Doordarshan's logo recently underwent a change, and the new color has sparked some controversy.  






Traditionally, the Doordarshan logo was red. However, in April 2024, Doordarshan unveiled a new logo with a distinct orange hue.







Some have described the new color as saffron, a color that is closely associated with Hinduism and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the current ruling party of India. This has led to accusations that the logo change is a sign of "saffronisation" of Doordarshan, a move that would undermine the broadcaster's neutrality and impartiality.


Doordarshan, on the other hand, has maintained that the change is simply a visual upgrade and that the new color is not saffron but a shade of orange.





The debate over the logo change highlights the ongoing debate about the role of media in India and the importance of maintaining neutrality in public broadcasting.
